School Holiday Camps

October 2012 School Holiday Survivor Camp Review

Sports Tuition’s school holiday survivor camp for 8-13 year olds was held in the last week of the holidays, 2-4 October.  It was the first time the group has camped lakeside.  It certainly is a magical setting by the water and it was pleasing there was no rain, particularly after the winter holiday camp rain.  The students formed tribes and made tribal flags.  The tents were set up on the newly created flat levels, lakeside at Camp Lake Fire.  The main activities were fishing, canoeing, raft building, archery and abseiling.  The group also cooked a number of meals over the open fire, which included hamburger patties, toasted jaffles and bacon & eggs, as well as a few marshmallows.  It was the first time we've set up a bush movie too, which everyone seemed to enjoy, so the big screen movies may become a regular feature for future camps.

Special thank you to L. Wilson & Co for donating fishing rods, 100 piece tackle boxes, caps, stickers etc for the ultimate survivor competitors and congratulations to Willow who took out the Ultimate Survivor Award on her 20th School Holiday Camp.
