School Holiday Camps

June 2013 School Holiday Camp Review

The school holiday survivor camp was held at Camp Lake Fire on 25-27 June.  Due to the cooler conditions, it was decided that the students would use the cabin accommodation instead of the usual camping out in the tents experience.  We ended up having beautiful winter weather.  The school holiday camp format changes slightly each time because of the large number of returning students.  On this occasion the students were engaged in shelter building, milk crate climb, archery and fishing.  The bass were certainly on the bite and a number of solid bass were caught.  The bass are quite fat at the moment, as they are full of roe.  I was surprised at how many bass over 40cm were caught.  It was a great effort.  There were a couple of eel-tailed catfish caught, but the majority of the catch was Australian bass.  The students also enjoyed some camp fire cooking as well as making pizzas and toasted jaffles.  They were a great bunch of students and congratulations to Max and Ruby who took out the boy & girl ultimate survivor prizes, which included fishing rods & reels, tackle boxes and ultimate survivor caps.  Students allocate points around the fires at tribal council and the leading two students from each tribe compete for the title of ultimate survivor. All the ultimate survivor competitors collected a water bottle, hat & stickers.  Thank you to L. Wilson & Co for donating these prizes.

Hi Steve,

Just wanted to say a big thanks to you, Jodie, Mick and the rest of the ST team for organising and running such a great survivor camp.  Chase enjoyed the camp very much and had plenty of great stories to tell when he came home.  It all sounded so professional, fun and such a wonderful opportunity for kids.

Chase hopes to attend the end of year survivor camp.

With kind regards and sincere thanks,

Susan Leon

...Tyra can't say enough great things about camp and her first words when she came home were how she wants to go back in September. Thanks so much for looking after her. She had a great first camp experience...

Kind regards

THANKYOU very much Steve. Tinashe thoroughly loved the camp and is hoping to go again next holidays.

Thank you for having him. Both Joey and Harry had a fabulous time and are looking forward to the next one.

The photos are great.  Thanks again.

Hi Steve

As per usual Finn came home raving about what a wonderful time he had at Camp.  He brought a few extras this time and I hear they had a great time also.  Thanks for the photos.  They are wonderful.  Finn was bragging about the fish he caught - now he has proof.  Thanks heaps

Thanks, fabulous photos!  I'm sure you are going to get to know Ruby and Olivia over the next couple of years....they had a wonderful time at camp.

Kind Regards
