Upcoming & Past Weekends

Somerville House Father & Daughter Fishing & Adventure Weekend March 2011 Review

On 1 March 2011 Sports Tuition moved its fishing operation from Hinze Dam to Maroon Dam and Somerville House was the first school to utilise the new location.  Maroon Dam has several advantages for our operation and it opens up a range of other activities which can be incorporated into these types of weekends.  This particular weekend was a father and daughter combination.  There were 52 participants in total and the dads stayed in the cabin accommodation and the girls camped out in tents. The idea of the adventure weekend was to move away from just focusing on the fishing, so fishing only accounted for half the time on this particular weekend.

The group was split into two.  One group went fishing and tube riding, whilst the other group went abseiling, built a milk crate stack, canoed and fired some arrows on the archery range.  Unfortunately the helicopter that was booked for both days had to be cancelled each day due to poor weather/flying conditions.  The structure of the adventure weekend also saw the fathers sitting around the camp fires with their daughters cooking breakfast and dinner.  The girls also made their own pizzas and pancake mixture.  It was a real hands-on camp-out experience for everyone.

{xtypo_quote} Hi Steve
As usual, thanks again for a great weekend, we both had an awesome time. Heaps of activities which kept us both very thrilled and very appreciative of my bed in particular without any mystery insects. Ha! Ha!  Look forward to getting back again. Big thanks also to your team they really do work hard in making sure we all had a great adventure up there.

{xtypo_quote} Steve,
Prudence and I had a great weekend. Thanks for all the preparation, great care, activities and good food through out the few days. Prudence had a lot of stories to tell her sisters and mothers last night!! It has given us both some great memories.  Hope to do it again. Cheers, Tom {/xtypo_quote}

{xtypo_quote} Thanks Steve, Imogen and I had a great weekend.  Imi loved all the activities and doing them with her mates was great fun for her. We look forward to doing it all again next year. Take care of yourself Steve and I am sure your business will only prosper at Lake Camp Fire. Kind regards, Robert Clark {/xtypo_quote}
