Somerville House Junior School Father & Daughter Fishing & Adventure Weekend 2013 Review

Sports Tuition hosted the Somerville House Junior School girls and their dads at Camp Lake Fire on 8-10 March for a Father & Daughter Fishing & Adventure Weekend.   The adventure activities were abseiling, archery, canoeing and the milk crate climb, which accounted for half of the weekend time.  Part of the adventure was also for the girls to camp out in the Oz Trail tents, which were put up right next to the cabins, where all the fathers bunked-down.  The girls also had the job of making their dad a pizza, cooking him bacon & eggs and toasting him a jaffle over the open fire.  During their fishing time, the group landed well over 1000 bass, all of which were released to fight another day.  There was enough dinner already organised, which included a mountain of red claw.  The red claw were peeled and the girls had the job of breadcrumbing the red claw before it was deep fried.  Red claw are thick at Maroon at the moment and groups have been enjoying them on pizza every week too, using the on-site wood-fired pizza oven.

“Hi Steve

Just a short note to say the feedback from the weekend was fantastic.  I am so impressed that the camp environment and activities inspired my usually shy little girl to try things like abseiling, canoeing and climbing.  Her confidence boost is evident, and she hasn't stopped talking about the things she did.

Thank you for planning a great weekend event.

Regards, Leisa Rose, Bella's Mum”

“Thanks Steve and will be back with both daughters next time - great work and well organized.

Regards, Rod Brown
