Churchie Year 5 & 6 Father & Son Fishing Weekend August 2013 Review

Sports Tuition hosted the Year 5 & 6 boys from Churchie for a Father & Son Fishing Weekend at Camp Lake Fire on 24-25 August.  The weather was absolutely glorious and it was great to see every person catch plenty of fish.  The main catch was Australian bass, however, the fish of the weekend belonged to Brad Wallis, a grandfather who attended the event.  He landed a 53cm yellowbelly.  It was caught around the timber region in the far upper reaches of the dam.  There haven’t been many yellowbelly caught recently so it was great to see that one and another 40cm specimen landed over the course of the weekend.  Most of the group arrived on the Friday night and made some pizzas for dinner.  The fishing commenced first thing Saturday morning.  The boys did really well and had enough fish for their dinner before lunch, so it was all catch & release for most of the weekend.  At the lunch break the boys peeled all the potatoes for their chips and once they were off the water on the Saturday, the dinner came together very quickly.  After dinner, the boys enjoyed toasting marshmallows over the open fire.
