"Hi Steve

I’d like to congratulate you on a very well organised event. We had so much fun and couldn’t believe how efficient everything was with so many people in the competition. From the smooth check in to getting the shrimp and then registering the catch. You and your team were brilliant. We all can’t wait to go next year. Having prizes for the longest fish of each target species was a great idea.

The catering guys were very good and very reasonably priced. We actually took up cooking equipment and enough food for the two days but in the end we didn’t use any of it."

"Hi Steve,

Just a quick thank you for running the Maroon comp over the weekend. The kids and I had a great time. My eldest son Jesse was not that keen on going but after competing he’s happy to enter for next year!

A quick summary of how it panned out for us. Arrived Friday afternoon and set up camp in case of the predicted rain eventuated, it didn’t thank goodness. We set some redclaw nets and headed back to camp. After Friday’s night briefing we were looking forward to the 6.00am start. With shrimp in hand off we headed in the morning to check the redclaw nets, only caught one so moved onto the fishing.

In 4 hours we had caught put about 50 bass and a few spangled perch. Luke 12y/o caght the largest SP at 23.5cm only missing out by 1.5cm on the largest for the weekend. I headed back to camp to break the trip up and keep the kids interested.

The kids played with other friends they made on the day and a game of tipity cricket ensued. I cooked up some snags for lunch and we hit the water again. We added another 20 odd fish to the tally but no upgrades.

Back to camp for some good tucker from CJ catering and listen to the expert guess speakers. It’s always good to hear what techniques the pros use and some helpful tips were gained.

My twins Luke & James entered the kids casting competition and unfortunately Luke dropped out after the first round, however James went on to come runner up winning a Abu combo rod and reel. To say he was stocked was an understatement.

Next morning all were keen to see if we could threaten the leaders, unfortunately we didn’t but had a great time trying. We did loose what we thought was a good yellow belly in some snags after the bottom bait rod doubled over. We managed to angle it free once but it buried us back in the snag to gain its freedom the second time. so we packed up and checked the Redclaw nets and caught 6 good size Redclaw, so the kids were happy.

All in all we had a great time and look forward to seeing you and Mick next time."

Best regards

Wayne Palmer

"Great weekend. Was very well run, food was tasty and a had plenty of variety as well reasonably priced, as were the drinks. The competition part was easy to understand and worked very well. Prizes were brilliant and everyone had an equal chance of winning. Overall a fantastic fun weekend that I will definitely recommend to every fisherman I meet...Well Done on a great weekend and I look forward to next year."

Thanks Brendon Steinhardt.
