Clayfield College Father & Son Fishing Weekend 2016 Review

Our first father & son fishing weekend at Moogerah Dam was on 14-15 May 2016 with Clayfield College. Exploring a new dam is always interesting, but I was genuinely surprised by the quality of fish. After spending 10 years at Hinze Dam, and the past six at Maroon, I’ve never seen as many yellowbelly caught in a session. And it all happened in the space of an hour or so. Yellowbelly measured up to 45cm and the best Australian bass measured 43cm. Some impressive fish, that’s for sure. Needless to say, enough fish was caught for dinner and the group employed catch & release for the majority of the time. The boys, only in Years 1-3, did a great job bread crumbing all the fillets. All dads had a go at fish filleting, which was also great to see.  Fantastic team effort all round.
